About the Company
Mackin, an award winning Business Services Company, has extensive experience helping businesses of all sizes, and from all across the world, to achieve and maintain their Health and Safety and Environmental certification goals. Whereas, Health and Safety used to be seen as peripheral to the main workings of a business, Mackin believe that it is the foundation on which a successful, forward thinking business should be run.
Mackin operate a highly effective and efficient integrated management solution, which supports continual improvement. Every element of the IMS is compliant with all of the requirements of international standards, and includes third party certification.
The central focus of our operating philosophy is a commitment to quality and excellence.
This ensures that we provide a client service that is second to none, and has resulted in the outstanding reputation that we have built over the past decade.
The key criteria for our approach to an integrated management system are:

Meet the team
Andy Mackin, CEO
Andy holds a Diploma in Health and Safety from University College Cork; a Certificate in Training and Education from NUI Galway, and has over twenty years experience in the field of Environmental Health and Safety.
As Managing Director of Mackin he has responsibility for the day to day operations of the organisation, and also works with many and varied clients across all sectors in Ireland, the UK, Europe and the US.
Originally hailing from Dundalk, Andy has been in Cork since 1985. He served for 21 years as a member of the Irish Naval Service and, during this time, qualified as an electrician. It was here that he gained his initial experience with risk management and developed his appreciation of Environmental Health and Safety.
Claire Goulding, Office Manager
Claire is the Office Manager and Senior Office Administrator at Mackin, working at our Head Office in Ireland since 2013. She has worked in the administrative field for over 20 years. Claire not only handles the day-to-day office administrative duties, she is responsible for making the office run smoothly by frequently interacting with clients, answering general office phone calls and emails allowing the consultants to focus on work for our clients.
Claire is involved in the recruitment of new employees, both for the Irish office and foreign offices; training in new administration staff; coordinating office activities, annual leave and taking responsibility for the accounting department, including invoicing and accounts payable.
As Training Co-Ordinator, Claire oversees the organisation of both internal and external courses for Mackin clients. She is the QQI Internal Verifier for Mackin and the registered contact with RSA and PSA. Claire holds an ICM Higher Diploma in Health and Safety and a QQI Level 6 Training and Development award. David Murphy, HR Manager, Cork
David is our Cork based HR Manager. Having worked in the Health Sector for over 20 years as an educator, activist, and records manager, David brings a unique set of skills and attributes to Mackin.
David qualified with an M.Soc.Sc. from University College Cork in 1997, obtained a Diploma in Life & Business Coaching in 2004 and is currently working through his MSc (HRM) to compliment his educational achievements.

Holli Black, Engagement Co-ordinator, Cork
Holli joined the Mackin team as a Site Engagement Co-ordinator in Cork to support daily team operations. She will be involved in the entire recruiting process, from co-coordinating available positions, candidate screenings and interviews to on-boarding and new employee orientation. Going forward, Holli will then provide on-site support for both managers and employees and be their main point of contact on a daily basis.
Originally from West London, Holli grew up in Cornwall in the South West of England for most of her childhood and had been working in Devon for the last 10 years. She has 7 years’ experience in project management within the market research sector and spent the last 3 years in the estate agency industry.
In her spare time, Holli trys to keep fit to enable her to fulfill her other passion in life – eating food! She enjoys watching sports including tennis and even a bit of snooker! She also enjoys travelling to different countries/places and watching live music when she can. Contact Holli here.
Barry Crowley, Health & Safety Consultant
Barry is the Health and Safety Consultant with Mackin, following a career of over thirty years in the construction industry; twenty of these as a foreman/supervisor.
Having always has a keen interest in Health and Safety; he returned to college as a mature student in 2008 and received a Certificate in 2009. He subsequently went on to complete the Higher Diploma in Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace in 2011. For advice on Health & Safety requirements contact Barry here.
Karla Doheny, Health & Safety Consultant
Karla Doheny is a Health and Safety Consultant for Mackin, based in our Dublin office. Prior to working at Mackin Karla was a health and safety officer in the construction industry, she also worked in the tourism sector in sales and reservations.
Karla has a Higher Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work from University College Dublin and she is also a member of IOSH. Karla is currently working with a number of tech companies in EMEA to assist them in the development of their safety management systems as well as providing health and safety consultancy services to various industry sectors across Ireland. Tom Deegan, Health & Safety Consultant
Tom joined Mackin as Health and Safety Consultant in 2018,
Having worked in the Security industry for a number of years for a diverse range of clients Tom developed an interest for health and safety. He returned to college as a mature student in 2013 and went on to receive a Bsc degree in Health and safety. contact Tom here.
Danny O’Flynn – Senior Training Instructor
Danny has been an instructor with Mackin since 2008. He has been a first aid instructor for over 20 years and became a Manual Handling Instructor in 2017. Danny is a qualified and registered PHECC instructor, Irish Heart Foundation / BLS Instructor. He is currently an active paramedic and this is where he gained the experience and knowledge which he can transfer to the training courses, making them as enjoyable and practical as possible for all of Mackin clients.
Throughout his career in the naval service Danny served 19 years onboard ships and 3 years overseas on UN missions, which included frontline, combative and life threatening situations. This is where he trained to become a first aid instructor and served in many roles including front line paramedic and senior NCO. contact Danny here.
Phil Byrne, Lead Auditor for ISO 9001:2008 & Project Manager Ireland/UK
Phil is a member of the NSAI Quality Management Standards Committee which has a role in the development of the ISO 9001:2015 and related standards. As a Lead Auditor for ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems, Phil ensures that all management systems developed with our clients meet and exceed the necessary criteria for certification to this international standard.
For over 20 years he has been involved with Organisational Change Management and Consultancy on the development, implementation and auditing of Quality Management Systems. Phil has gained extensive experience in numerous business sectors with companies of all sizes and brings his expertise to Mackin clients. Leniece Lane, Business Development Consultant, U.S.
Leniece Lane has worked as a consultant for over 17 years and brings a wealth of knowledge to our team. She has a Masters Degree from Campbell University in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Management.
Throughout her career Leniece has worked in a variety of fields including technology, finance, real estate, human resources and environmental, health and safety. She has been with Mackin for over 5 years total, first as a contractor and now as consultant in charge of business development in our U.S. offices. Contact Leniece here.
Ashley Akerberg – Site Co-ordinator, Menlo Park, U.S.
Ashley joined the Mackin team as a Site Co-ordinator in 2018 after ten years in education. It was as a teacher Ashley discovered her love for supporting individual growth and organizational development. From her previous experience she brings a passion for building relationships, helping others reach their potential, and organizing systems. Caring deeply about diversity and inclusion, she works to create policies and practices that provide opportunities for all people to be successful and shine.
As a Mackin site co-ordinator Ashley supports the employees on site while scheduling and co-ordinating available team positions, job posting, candidate screenings and interviews. Having recently relocated from Oregon to California, she enjoys many things about her new Bay Area home: year-round sunshine, supporting cultural events, trying new restaurants, and being close to both the mountains and the ocean. Courtney Ollman - Site Co-ordinator, Seattle, U.S.
Courtney joined the Mackin team as a Site Cooordinator for Seattle in 2018. She provides on-site support for both managers and site employees, including scheduling and co-ordinating available team positions to help the Mackin team grow. Her duties include on-boarding, new employee orientation, evaluations/feedback, weekly meetings and any other tasks requested by the team. Courtney is the link between Mackin head-office and the employees on site in Seattle.
Originally from the Seattle area, Courtney graduated with a Bachelor’s degree at Washington State University (Go Cougs!). She holds great value in building personal connections in both her private and professional life, and enjoys being outdoors as often as possible. Contact Courtney here.
Fernanda Amaya - Site Co-ordinator, California, U.S.
Fernanda joins Mackin as a Site Engagement Coordinator in Menlo Park, California. with three years experience in HR operations roles for both small and mid-size companies in the bay area. During this time Fernanda developed a passion for working closely with people to help them become successful in their career paths.
She graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration and Management from San Francisco State University.
In her spare time Fernanda is a musical theater nerd, she also enjoy hiking with her husky dog and vegan cooking with her wife. Contact Fernanda here.
Bryant Brown - Technical Co-ordinator, Redmond, Washington, U.S.
Bryant is an Engagement Co-ordinator and Technical Co-ordinator with Mackin, assisting other Mackin employees on various sites.
While engaging with a multitude of civilians and military personnel from various walks of life, Bryant taught himself how to manage many challenges that affected his fellow co-workers and their families. Bryant believes that success is no accident but when honest hard work is accomplished then you have purposeful successes that transform to Mackin’s victories. Bryant knows that all the Mackin employees want that same success and need the best tools that we, at Mackin, can offer them.
Bryant holds several degrees including a Supervisor Leadership degree from Hawaii Pacific University which benefits both his and Mackin’s future endeavors. Contact Bryant here.
